MARZ’s tutoring approach is based on the assumption that, every person is unique and every learning challenge is unique. Our tutoring approach is to first identify (by testing) the precise difficulty the student may be experiencing, then apply a combination of tested, validated strategies to strengthen areas of weakness.
Students receive both direct and computerized instruction on an individualized basis. Each student is provided material for daily practice to develop permanency as he/she works toward mastery of concepts. Daily performance (including homework) is logged, and succeeding lesson plans are adjusted as needed with the aim of achieving mastery. Each quarter, we hold parent/teacher conferences to discuss the student’s progress and any other concerns.
We believe that students will progress more rapidly if a partnership is formed between school, tutor, and home. Therefore, we request that the parent provide the contact information of the student’s teacher so that, by communicating with each other, we can help build the foundation for and reinforce the specific standards being addressed in school.
